QUALIFICATIONS
The Quebec Immigrant Investor Program, established in 1986, allows business people and their families to become permanent residents in Quebec. The program supports small and medium businesses in Quebec through funding provided by the investors. Applicants must meet certain qualifications, including demonstrating business experience, having a net worth of at least CA$2 million, providing documentation for the source of invested funds, and committing to settling in Quebec.
INVESTMENT OPTIONS
There are two investment options available. The Full Investment option requires investors to invest a minimum of CA$1,200,000 in a government-guaranteed investment for five years. At the end of this period, the full amount is returned without accrued interest. Alternatively, the Financed Investment option allows investors to pay a reduced amount that finances a CA$1,200,000 closed 62-month term loan from a chartered bank. The loan is initiated and repaid at no further cost and without additional guarantees from the applicant.
CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for citizenship, investors and their family members must have resided in Canada for at least three out of the previous four years, possess adequate knowledge of English and/or French, have a clean criminal record, and demonstrate understanding of Canadian citizenship rights, responsibilities, history, values, institutions, and symbols.
